Sunday, September 30. 2007MDI’m quite happy. I’m recovering and managed to finish a bowl of noodles by myself without needing help nor puking it all out. In other (outdated) news, House MD Season 4 has finally started running since last Tuesday. The sarcastic jokes are still just as good. Then, this article talks about the economic relationship that Singapore has with Burma. Speaking of which, it reminds me of this post by Lucky Tan, about the tense political situation of a certain country. It’s pretty sad. Couple of weeks back, I was wondering if there’s a place where people are not critical and that there are no commentaries running about anything, as they are ‘highly unproductive’ and ‘pointless’. Then, it occurred to me. Singapore has been the place all along. Looking at the newspapers yield no valuable discerning commentary on notable and significant issues. All debates about the CPF and other issues by the press are ridiculously one-sided. Foreign press are kept out from commenting, so are independent analysts and policy studies professors in the country, leaving the internet the only viable medium for the informed and initiated. Local columnists who write about ‘bread and butter’ issues got banned, almost instantly. Seriously, I’m scared. The state could just as easily pull an enabling act and no one would bother to protest nor debate about the ‘possible side-effects’ and or downsides of such draconian action. But you know, I’m probably crazy. No one would believe such things would happen. In fact, many in the British Cabinet in 1930s refused to believe that WWII was inevitable either. .I’m down with diarrhoea and vomiting since Wednesday and I still haven’t recovered yet. Starving yet cannot eat; thirsty yet cannot drink, losing so much weight and so quickly, how annoying. The GP has kindly suggested that I don’t eat nor drink until I feel like. Amusingly, he also said that charcoal tablets should be spammed at rates of 8 or so tablets per intake ideally. I need to recover real fast. I’m HUNGRY.

Tuesday, September 18. 2007Easy ViewSome time back, the school went into a kind of frenzy, the administrative kind which attempts to create can wonderful show for external validators to watch, ranging from fancy powerpoint slides, to conducting buzzword-bingo for audiences to play. For a rough idea on what is more important than remedial lessons, check out this post. Maybe some EV slides to go along when I get to them.

Next War?I have been wondering, how the next next world war would be like. Would it be one of a massive trade of nuclear missiles? Or one with a massive trashing of currency? And then, it occurred to me. No. I pondered over my hazy conclusion to measure its absurdity with reason. Nope, totally unreasonable, but impossible? Im-possible? Possible without the Im? Possible through things which I haven’t understood? The idea of a spiritual war, is what occurred to me. I think the spiritual world shares much similarities to our natural one, where events or actions occurring in one or the other can affect each other, positively or negatively. Of course, not knowing enough, I decided to consult the guidebook of life. I was immediately reminded about Rev 16:15, a verse regarding the guarding of garments when the time comes. Apart from spiritual clothes in Col 3:12, there’s another in Eph 6:11 which talks about clothes, but this time, armour, battle amour. Reading the area around for the context, it looked quite interesting. I’ll reproduce it below:- Eph 6:10-18 (KJV)
Emphasis mine. Hmm, the battle is already started but I believe it’ll intensify; intensity to a state where the natural world becomes more affected than before. Don’t just wait and see, at least be prepared. Monday, September 10. 2007Psst?Today marks the first day of the preliminary examinations, which I find quite interesting. Instead of the usual, “which question did you do” questions, it became “Bird or Monkey?”. This was even more amusing as the first time this syntax was used occurred in the toilet, which drew quite some healthy laughter. Thankfully, the air-conditioning is rather reasonable, nothing colder than church, on this rainy morning as I forgot to bring along additional covers. Still, nothing beats teachers kneeling in-front of the podium on the steps, counting papers, due to the brain-less design of the stage. It would have been the best photo opportunity had the principal been standing there. Even then, it makes good knee exercises on a cool Monday. Oh well, tomorrow and the day after come the killer papers. I hope what doesn’t kill us can truly make us stronger. I mean, I hope we don’t die, never mind the stronger part. That aside, I like this prayer. May the good Lord carry us through, amen. Friday, September 7. 2007PhotoshopI found a couple of images rather well photoshopped on the web, you might find them interesting too. Apparently, even Reuters wrote an article about this image.
