I saw teachers using this application called ‘IB Questionbank’ which, I think is quite cool. I think it’ll be nicer and more environmentally friendly for the school to distribute this piece of software than to print miles thick of FYS for students. Or better, allow students to choose, like the way they handle phonebook collection these days.
There’s this amusing element, Administratium, that someone introduced me to. That, you might not want to get yourself associated with.
I was reading today and I came across Eph 6:10-17. I’ll post it here, for it might bring encouragement and faith.
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.
There’s one thing that as a perfectionist that I hate, is that I tend to pick out defects more than things well done, failing to acknowledge quality work well done, albeit the minor flaws. However, to overlook minor details is a bad thing™ nevertheless.
That aside, I’m rather disappointed by the fact that the font face used for text on the façade of the administration block is inconsistent from the one used at the spaceframe. Worst, the font face for ‘(Independent)’ isn’t even unified across buildings; they are completely different. Just compare them with block A, space frame and the Recreational Centre, and you’ll see what I mean.
I’ve finally fallen sick enough for me to decide to stay home, and visit a friendly doctor for an MC instead thanks to school policy. I know I’m down with the symptoms of stress and minor viral infection but to appease administrators without wasting resources, I decided that a Polyclinic would be the most efficient and cost effective method. Hey, it’s just a 15 minute bus ride from my house too.
True enough, I entered the fully air-conditioned place and left within 30 minutes, with a MC in hand, and with enough spare time to marvel at their high-tech communications and patients management systems (read: CRM). This $6 visit was certainly worth in terms of time, MC and monetary value. I’m quite sure the duration of a private clinic visit would take as long too, but at 5 times the cost.
Oh well, another genuine time waster tomorrow, but with school spirit, I shall turn up for school events despite its proximity to my examinations. After all, the administrators, given their intelligence, must have foreseen that too, I hope.
This day witnessed the best demonstration of irony and hypocrisy in a real-life setting. I pity the trees that were cut down. I pity the people who inhaled the fumes from printing them. I pity that large amounts of energy is spent lighting up and cooling the new auditorium when no one uses it. I pity the ageing people who have to negotiate the light-years of red tape to do something trivial thanks to policies to prevent people from not knowing what to do.
But, it’s a good experience. It has taught me what to avoid should I be in a position to do so. I doubt if I would be able to receive such education if for such a position that I am in currently, despite the overwhelming madness now, and that is to come.
I had managed to transpose the melody (or whatever the more appropriate word is) of ‘We Live in Singapura’ from my mind onto notation form, finally. So amusingly, this is when I realised that next to my piano, there stands an electric organ (usually overlooked due to the difference in magnitude), which has an auxiliary sound output. Oh my. That’s a whole new world of opportunities and the trashing of my plan to mic up the piano; tones without expressions will do for now.
Keeping my posts short, I’ll post a video and write a few words.
School has been cutting corners to new heights. Air-conditioning in the Canteen can be mysteriously remain turned off until way past school hours. Chemistry remedial notes can come printed 4 pages a side on rough paper. I can barely make up the words, much worst the superscripts used in the exponents. Seriously, if we’re so tight on funds, please sell some brooms and dustpans and buy the teachers more paper. Or better, get the online Learning Management System working so that less papers need to be used. I sincerely doubt that the organisation is that caring about the environment. Not to mention, the External Validation presentations are just flooded with statistics, which according to Mark Twain, are one of the three types of lies - “Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics”.
I hope the secrecy of the past-year paper answer key has nothing to do with the exam paper. After all, beginning with the end in mind is easier than driving blind along a hazy road.
Hi there. Welcome to the mind of an INT{J,P}, CDIS. I hope you can find your way around without getting lost.
The pensieve is messy to the untrained eye. That's life isn't it. The fun part of life is to untangle the mess you've gotten yourself into.
